Jules·

Hi, my name is Jules!

My full name is Julia and I’m 21 years old, born and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey. I’ve been doing art since I was 4 years old, my interests going towards charcoal, pen, sketching and painting. I was always inclined to be creating, no matter my situation or materials.

I wasn’t sure what type of artist I wanted to be when I was growing up, until I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and fell in love with the entire process and experience. It hit me all at once that I absolutely needed to be a tattoo artist and it was my art calling. My senior year of high school I reached out to every shop in my NJ area for an apprenticeship with my portfolio and did not get one, so I committed to Florida Atlantic University to study healthcare administration and went with the flow of the majority of my classmates.

Studying health administration felt wrong for me and it wasn’t what I wanted, I was becoming more depressed about my future. I immediately began looking for another apprenticeship a month before college and realized the world of tattooing is bigger down in South Florida. I secured an opportunity tattooing and also moved into the dorms in August of 2021. I dropped my classes at Florida Atlantic University 3 months into first semester. I was terrified.

I started my apprenticeship when I was 18, at a classic street shop and had a traditional style apprenticeship as the only female in the shop. I lived where I could afford in small spaces and worked my way up slowly with my art. I was offered a better/safer spot at a more established studio and my career took off from there. Michael’s Body Art and Spa is my Third resident studio, and I’m proud to say I’ve worked with many types of co artists and even more different types of clientele and shop management. I move very easily with the flow of my surroundings and will always do what’s best for me and my career, while always cheering on the ones around me.

I specialize in realism, fine line, micro realism, ornamental and neo traditional. I love combining styles and creating larger pieces, and my main career goal is to do large scale realism focused tattoos that cover at least a full day into multiple days of work. I learned early that I’m here on this earth to make sacred connections and exchange emotion, which goes hand in hand with putting something so permanent and meaningful on someone’s body for life. Tattooing is my safe haven and my favorite type of therapy, I genuinely could not imagine my life without it.
